Today we continued with negotiations. The District presented counter proposals on working conditions, teachers rights and responsibilities, and leave of absence.
The district is attempting to remove your evaluation rights from the contract! This would give the Superintendent complete control over how many observations could be required, when they could be conducted, evaluations criteria, percentage of Highly Effective, and more. The contract lives on long after the Superintendent and School Board are gone so while some positive changes might be made now, removing the language from the contract could negatively affect us in the future. It is an anti-teacher proposal. The district has also proposed a salary offer that doesn’t go far enough to help members. Help send a loud message about where you stand! Add your selfie HERE to show the district we are standing strong together in these negotiations.
OCPS shared that they have not changed their position on salary or evaluations.
