Dear Educators,
Your engagement and presence throughout the bargaining process directly strengthens our power at the table. When we are engaged, we make it clear to the District that educators are united, paying attention, and determined to achieve improvements to our working conditions.
Today’s session included both formal bargaining and an informal work session, during which several key issues were discussed.
- AI Protections: The union submitted an updated proposal on the use of Artificial Intelligence, carefully crafted to address the District’s concerns while still safeguarding educators who may use District-approved AI tools.
- Non-Classroom Planning & Student Distribution: During the work session, CTA and the District discussed implementation issues surrounding scheduled planning time for non-classroom personnel and equitable student distribution to address workload balance.
- 30-Minute Lunch & Skyward Improvements: CTA explained how potential changes to Skyward would enable a shift to a 30-minute duty-free lunch for all educators, as well as the possibility of moving to a semester-based Skyward model to help reduce teacher workload related to attendance and grading.
