[Orange County, FL] –Today, July 28, 2022, teachers voted to ratify the 2022-2023 tentative agreement between the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association (“OCCTA”) and Orange County Public Schools (“OCPS”). 52.2 % voted in favor of ratification.


With this approval, OCCTA bargaining unit members will receive the following salary increases for the 2022-2023 school year:


Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA): $900

Effective teachers: $1,800 (total increase with COLA: $2,700)

Highly Effective teachers: $2,425 (total increase with COLA: $3,325)

Starting salary increased from $47,500 to $48,400

Advanced Degree Supplement Increases


All educators will begin receiving the $900 cost-of-living adjustment on August 17, 2022 (distributed across all paychecks for the school year) and the performance pay salary increase will begin once evaluation scores are finalized. Increases are retroactive to the first duty day of the 2022-2023 school year.


The agreement also includes essential improvements to the grievance and arbitration procedures that will give teachers equal control over scheduling so that critical concerns can be resolved as quickly as possible.


“This is an important victory, and we thank teachers for their activism and for taking the time to vote and to be heard. Our members are the backbone of our community, and this contract provides some level of recognition for their incredible sacrifice.


While these much-needed raises are an important step towards the salaries our teachers deserve, this is just the beginning. We are prepared for the hard work ahead of us and are counting on OCPS leaders to prioritize educators every step of the way,” said Clinton McCracken, OCCTA President
