Today’s bargaining session marked a meaningful step forward. While a few issues remain, your union is making steady progress.

Here’s a summary of the proposals presented by the district during today’s session.:

Working Conditions (Article VI)

The District presented counterproposals on two issues:

Duty Day (Article XIV)

The District responded to union proposals on planning time for non-classroom teachers and offered a counter proposal on the 30-minute lunch proposal.:

We want to especially acknowledge one of our school counselors who contributed to making this proposal a reality.

Salary (Article XVI)

The District presented a salary proposal that includes:

Evaluation RatingProposed Increase
Highly Effective4.01%
Effective3.01%

The District did not propose a one-time retention supplement this year. Instead, that funding was used for the base salary increase, making it a permanent increase instead of a one-time payment.

The District also introduced a placement chart to begin addressing the long-standing issue of experienced teachers hired at the same salary as brand-new teachers.

12-Month Pay Option

After months of collaboration through the Labor Management Committee, the District presented formal language today to offer a 12-month deferred payment option for teachers. The current methods of payment would remain as an option as well.
